Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.
The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.
Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.
The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.
However, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.
Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
